As part of the new knowyourtrust® (kyt) performance management platform, Lightfoot have developed an in-depth approach to the analysis of readmissions using the Hospital Episodes Statistics (HES) dataset.  Currently most NHS Trusts have little visibility of patients who are discharged from hospital being readmitted to another Trust.  The originating Trust is expected to meet the costs of these emergency readmissions so, in order to manage the financial impact, visibility of readmissions to other providers is crucial.

Lightfoot’s readmissions application can distinguish between elective or non-elective spells with the analysis broken down by HRG.  This helps the Trusts to establish the financial impact of PCT reimbursement, readmission threshold and reduction in activity.
